FAQ's
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we have licenses for the entire state of Wisconsin along with a separate licence to work in Milwaukee County.
Do you obtain the necessary permits?
We can, but we encourage customers to obtain a permit on their own once they have selected a contractor. The city will ask for all the proper licenses and we will provide you with that.
Dutch Brothers Fence does NOT obtain the permit. Customer is responsible for getting approval through the municipality. Some municipalities do not require a permit. Dutch Brothers Fence does provide assistance to get the permit.
Will you call for utility marking?
Yes, Dutch Brothers Fence will call Diggers Hotline prior to your job installation to have utilities marked. Private utilities that USIC does not mark(i.e. Power lines from your house to the garage, propane tank line, underground sprinkler lines) these have to be marked by the customer.
What is the estimated timeline for completion?
There are many factors that go into installing a fence but our goal is to install a fence that’s 200 feet or less completed in 1 day! With our post pound installation method we go quick!
Who will manage my project on-site?
You will be working closely with your sales manager from the time you commit, to the time your fence is installed, and beyond. The day of installation you will be in contact with your sales manager and lead install crew member.
How will you protect my yard and landscaping?
With our post pound installation method it allows our crew to maneuver around your landscaping with minimal damage to root systems, unlike other traditional installation methods. There will be no dirt sitting on your lawn after we complete your project.
What are your payment terms and financing options?
Typically, a standard project requires 50% down payment to get materials ordered and your project on the installation schedule. The other 50% is due upon completion of the project. Financing options are available through Hearth Financing.
Do you remove and dispose of my old fence?
We most certainly do. That cost is typically presented at the time of quote.
How close to the property line can I build my fence?
Every municipality is different and must adhere to the rules put in place. If the municipality does have a rule in place, common practice is 2-6 inches inside the property line.
What should I discuss with my neighbors?
As a courtesy to your neighbors we recommend you inform them that we will be there for installation and that it can be loud while posts are being driven into the ground.
What are the height restrictions in my area?
Local zoning or HOA rules typically limit front yard fences to 3-4 feet along with being about 50% opaque, backyard fences can be up to 6 feet. However, each municipality is different and needs to be approved prior to getting a permit. You can go to your municipality’s website to find this info, otherwise we can provide this information when we come out to provide you a detailed quote.
